This is our slogan, and we strive to make it a reality every day with our close-knit team. Café De Poort is a cozy neighborhood café on Haarlemmerdijk, the most charming shopping street in Amsterdam, featuring many delightful little shops and just a 10-minute walk from Amsterdam Central Station. In 2020, De Poort underwent a thorough renovation, resulting in a uniquely atmospheric café with great attention to authentic details. De Poort hosts many activities, and thanks to the renovation, it is now also possible to rent separate spaces to celebrate your birthday or another event. Café De Poort has a brand new pool table. It's not just any pool table, it's a very special one. The pool table can be quickly transformed into a dining table! Multifunctional, how convenient is that!

Old pool table donated

The old pool table has been donated to the Hengelo Noord location of RIBW Overijssel, where people with psychiatric challenges can temporarily live in protected housing to become as self-reliant as possible. Caregiver Lukas Kiepman symbolically received the pool table from Jan Riemens and Rolf Rodrigus. As a thank you, De Poort received a large jar of homemade cookies from the residents of RIBW Hengelo Noord! We wish the residents lots of enjoyment with their pool table!

Events

There’s always something happening at De Poort: every last Thursday of the month, enjoy surprise artists during Podium De Poort LIVE! We regularly host our cozy Poort Pub Quiz, led by Jeroen Kranendonk. Watching sports is popular with us; naturally, all Ajax and Dutch National Team matches are shown live on the big screen. You can also get active yourself on Wednesday evenings during the De Poort Pool Competition.

Want to showcase your singing talents to the audience? You can do so on Saturday afternoons: sing along with Nico or André! Additionally, every month we have Poort Culinair, each time with a different theme. Check here regularly for the latest information.

Our menu

Food: We open at 11 AM, and from 12 PM, you can enjoy a delicious lunch or a hot meal at De Poort. Our menu is based on traditional enjoyment without too much fuss, but always tasty, plentiful, and reasonably priced! Every week there are specials, see our board in the café for details. If you're coming for a drink, we have an extensive selection of snacks.

Drinks: At De Poort, you can enjoy a nice cup of coffee, possibly with the authentic Dijker Apple Pie. Coming for drinks? We have a wide selection of beers, both on tap and bottled. Also, try our delicious cocktails!

Something to Celebrate?

Your birthday, a fun drink with colleagues, or just a party? Our café is the ideal place to host it. Café De Poort has two spaces available that can be reserved separately for groups.

Room 1 (De Huyskamer): This room is directly connected to the bar area and can accommodate approximately 25-30 people. It can be separated with a curtain for privacy.
Room 2 (Het Kleine Cafe): Located in the basement, this room is suitable for approximately 15-20 people and can be closed off with a door. In The Small Café, you can play "pub owner" yourself, as it has its own bar with a tap.
